Headquartered in Nova Scotia, Canada, a province similar in size and other characteristics to many Caribbean countries, EfficiencyOne Services has built its reputation on achieving results for its clients while providing exceptional customer service. This experience has readied us to bring our knowledge and expertise to the rest of the world.

Energy efficiency is the future. EfficiencyOne Services represents the possibilities implicit in a more energy efficient tomorrow. We are a proud subsidiary of EfficiencyOne, a Canadian corporation with a proven track record and annual revenues exceeding USD $54 million. With 25 electrical and non-electrical energy efficiency programs, EfficiencyOne saves Nova Scotians USD $113 million annually, and leads an industry that has already created over 1,000 jobs and contributes $200 million to the Nova Scotian economy. And through EfficiencyOne Services, we can offer this expertise and experience to other jurisdictions around the world.

Stephen MacDonald

Chief Executive Officer

Stephen MacDonald is the Chief Executive Officer of EfficiencyOne, the not-for-profit operator of Canada’s first electricity efficiency utility, Efficiency Nova Scotia.

Under Steve’s leadership, EfficiencyOne continues its track record of meeting its energy savings targets under budget, with a focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Nova Scotia’s results and innovative model has been cited by the influential International Energy Agency, and by the Pan Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. Steve has been named a recipient of Canada’s 2018 Clean50 award for his industry-leading efforts promoting energy efficiency and reducing C02 emissions in Nova Scotia.  

Steve is a relentless champion for the development and growth of the energy efficiency industry in Nova Scotia, and the more than 1,400 people working in this field across the province.

A Chartered Professional Accountant, prior to his appointment as CEO, Steve previously served as EfficiencyOne’s Chief Operating Officer and held senior leadership positions with a Nova Scotia Crown Corporation and Grant Thornton. Steve serves on the Maritimes Energy Association Nominations and Elections Committee and chairs the Finance Committee as a member of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth.

Chuck Faulkner

General Manager

Chuck Faulkner is the General Manager of EfficiencyOne Services and the Director of Services for EfficiencyOne where he leads the team responsible for creating and delivering EfficiencyOne's $54 million portfolio of efficiency services, ensuring the company meets performance targets, within budget. Chuck is a professional engineer who has specialized in the field of energy efficiency since 1991. During his career, he has been involved in many facets of energy efficiency: commercial/industrial/institutional energy auditing, retrofitting large facilities, optimizing retrofit savings, and developing and managing utility programs. Chuck holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree, specializing in Mechanical Engineering, from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now Dalhousie University; he also holds a Certificate in Applied Science from Acadia University). Chuck earned the designation of Professional Engineer in 1993.

Laura Sinclair

Senior Manager, Marketing and Trade

Laura is the Senior Manager, Marketing and Trade for EfficiencyOne Services and the Manager of Services Support and Development for EfficiencyOne. In her role with EfficiencyOne Services, she serves as the premier internal expert and advisor on international trade, specifically on exporting and growth to new markets and leads the development of the organization’s International Business Plans, marketing, and sales efforts. Laura also oversees EfficiencyOne’s team of services support staff.

Having worked to support business growth in four continents, Laura has almost 20 years of combined experience in the fields of exporting, energy efficiency, and business creation, ideally positioning her to support the creation and development of EfficiencyOne Services, the subsidiary through which EfficiencyOne exports energy efficiency expertise to other jurisdictions.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Global Business Management from Saint Mary’s University and, in 2017, will have earned a Certified International Trade Professional designation through the Forum for International Trade Training.

Errol Pereira

Manager of Engineering

Errol Pereira is the Manager of Engineering at EfficiencyOne and leads the team of On-site Energy Managers. Errol previously led three major commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs at EfficiencyOne, ensuring they each met annual performance targets. He has worked with an electric utility and a large pulp and paper mill where he was involved in the baseline assessment and implementation of efficiency projects. His experience includes measurement and verification, energy auditing, compressed air leakage management and ASHRAE qualified energy audits.

Errol has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto with a focus on power generation, renewable technologies and nonlinear control systems. He has also earned the designation of Certified Energy Manager, Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, and Certified Energy Auditor.

Kate McDonald

Service Delivery Manager

Kate is a Service Delivery Manager for EfficiencyOne, where she leads her team responsible for creating and delivering a $16 million CAD portfolio of efficiency programs in Nova Scotia, ensuring the company meets energy savings performance targets within budget. 

Kate has specialized in the field of energy efficiency since 2009. During her career, she has been involved in many facets of energy efficiency, including residential/industrial/institutional program management and development.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science degree, majoring in Environmental Economics and Policy, from the University of Guelph. She also holds a Master degree in Environment, Culture and Society from Lancaster University in England.
